Schools and Education
Stress, anxiety, emotion regulation among students, along with their difficulties to stay focused and attentive in class can be difficult for schools and teachers to navigate in order to provide the support they need to thrive. Academic pressures to perform well, lack of self-awarenss and social connection, as well as digital overload can all contribute. Teacher burnout rates are also rising, providing support and strategies that enable teachers to flourish is equally important.
With over 20 years' experience as a teacher working in schools with young people from Kindergarten to Year 12, I recognise that every school has its differences. For this reason, I like to curate classes, workshops and courses specific to meet the needs of the schools and the individuals that I will be working with. Through a wide range of modalities I help students understand ways they can balance their nervous system, regulate their emotions, increase focus and productivity for longer periods of time, whilst developing their self-awareness for greater self and social connection. For staff, I provide tools to improve their overall wellbeing and ways they can reduce stress and anxiety for greater productivity that they can implement in their every day life as well as with their students in the classroom.
Here are what staff and students have to say:
"Reflecting on my experience in the Yoga self-practice course I’ve noticed a profound shift in both my emotional and physical state particularly through some of the breathing aspects of the work. I observed a noticeable reduction in my stress levels with a greater ability to manage anxiety and workload at school. I also found that my sleep patterns improved I was falling asleep faster and waking up feeling more rested much it has helped me manage my anxiety. The teachers are amazing and the atmosphere is so calming and welcoming." - Student Age 14, Yoga Self-Practice Course
"Students developed an understanding of their mind and body connection, specifically the role of the vagus nerve. Many of them commented on the significant impact of the course, indicating a better understanding of strategies to assist them with their own wellbeing." - Year Level Coordinator ,Yoga Self-Practice Course
"Throughout this course I have become incredibly more in tune with my own body, particularly my breathing. Being truly aware of my breathing and respecting it as any other skill one would practice, or hone has greatly enhanced my ability to become present during breathing. During moments of duress, I’ve been able to ground myself using deep breaths which are shockingly effective with my renewed understanding of how to engage my respiratory system.” - Student Age 15, Yoga Self-Practice Course
